JM & SJM Center

JM & SJM Centre, the social wing of our Parish is committed to programmes of social concern. The Centre is a registered public trust that runs the St Thomas School at Kurar, Malad East. The school has 1769 Students in this academic year. This year March 2018, 80 students wrote the SSC Examination.

The JM & SJM Centre also provides medical and financial relief to the poor and needy patients at Cooper Hospital.

ACTIVITIES (2017-18)

Kindness, Compassion, Generosity, Time for each other etc. are the investments that we make for reaping good results in future. Money can buy a house, but not a home; money can get you a computer, but not communication; God created us to reflect the qualities of life such as love, care and kindness. Expression of these qualities of life, without any selfish motives is not an option but an obligation. Such acts can change a human being’s life. There are thousands and thousands of humans that need a touch of love and care. It is worth to reflect on the words written by Mr. Thomas Carlane ‘Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance; but to do what lies clearly at hand’ The J M & SJ M Centre is a humble attempt to stretch our arm to touch human lives around us.

The J M & S J M Centre is the welfare arm of our Church and strives to transform the lives of the poor and needy human beings of our society. Through this Centre we had enabled us to reach out to the deprived. illiterate and neglected sections of our society and we work to bring about a qualitative change in their lives by providing them with education, healthcare, financial help and guidance.  The Centre ‘s efforts over these years have brought drastic changes and hope in the lives of many socially and downtrodden people.

Established in 1986 to focus on the development of the less fortunate fellow citizens of our society irrespective of their Caste, Creed Language or Religion The Centre was thus instituted in memory of the Late Most Rev,Dr, Juhanon Mar Thoma , a social reformist in his own right ,who ardently crusaded for the fundamental rights of the people. The St. Thomas Mar Thoma School an English Medium at Kurar, Malad–East, situated in the midst of a slum, the school spares no efforts to provide quality education to the slum children.This year our total students strength is 1769 and 80 students appeared for the S S C Examination and waiting for their results.. The Centre is also provide medical and financial help to the needy patients in association with R. N. Cooper Municipal Hospital, Irla
